Joe Twyman joins Broad Arrow as Director and Head of UK and European Consignments following an 8-year stint working with Gooding & Company. Having grown up surrounded by some of the world’s greatest pre-war Alfa Romeos and post-war Ferraris (exposed to him through his father’s renowned restoration business), a career in the ‘old car game’ was always going to be obvious.
Joe has been involved with the acquisition and sale of countless significant cars throughout his career and has a passion for post-war competition & sports cars which has led him to have a particular expertise in this field. For the past 20 years, he has complimented business life by competing in some of the globe’s most prestigious historic and modern racing events. Overall wins and podiums in historic GT, Sports and Formula One cars at events such as the Goodwood Revival, Le Mans Classic & Monaco Historique are supported with class wins and podiums at the Spa 24 Hours and European Le Mans series in contemporary machinery.
Presented with the ’no budget, five cars’ question, he would choose the following: Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Touring Spyder, Ferrari 250 SWB/C, Porsche 2.7RS Lightweight, McLaren MP4/4, and McLaren F1 GTR. Of course, chassis numbers for all would be available to anyone who really wanted to get into the details, and a backup list of a further five was also suggested because ‘five cars really isn’t enough’.
Additionally, Joe maintains an interest and involvement in the family restoration business and has a passion for motorsport memorabilia with a large collection of significant items, which one day he hopes to bring together to form an unrivaled ‘clubhouse’ that provides a meeting place for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Currently finishing a book on the subject, he is keen to help owners of cars pair significant items that relate to building history files that haven’t been seen before.
A husband & father, Joe lives and works in the UK but has strong ties in continental Europe and regularly travels there to meet with clients, attend events, and view cars.
